Telugu Websites Reporting Lower Box Office Numbers for ‘Game Changer’

Targeted negativity on Game changer

Ram charan’s Game Changer movie, is one of the most anticipated films of the year, has been affected by paid propaganda and negative reviews against the film, leading to controversy about its box office performance. Despite massive pre-sales and a strong opening, some websites and social media platforms reported much lower collection numbers, raising concerns about a targeted negative campaign.

Despite the negative campaign, “Game Changer” has proven its mettle with strong box office performance. BookMyShow (BMS) ticket sales for the first week crossed an impressive 2.2 million, surpassing “Daaku Maharaj” (1.12 million) and “Sankranthiki Vasthunam” (1.42 million+). However, despite selling over 1.2 million tickets in India on Day 1 alone, some Telugu box office sites like AndhraBoxOffice and T2BLive reported misleadingly low numbers for “Game Changer,” raising concerns about biased reporting.

The inconsistency becomes more evident when comparing figures. “Daaku Maharaj” had a share-to-gross difference of just over₹11 crore with 554k tickets sold on BMS for Day 1, while “Sankranthiki Vasthunam,” with 700k tickets sold, was credited with only₹30 crore gross on these sites. For “Game Changer,” the share-to-gross difference is around₹25 crore, but for “Sankranthiki Vasthunam,” it’s only₹13 crore, highlighting the discrepancies in the reported figures.

In North America, “Game Changer” collected around $1.3 million during premieres and Day 1 combined, despite negative reviews and disaster talk. By the end of the first week, it had managed to reach an impressive $2.1 million. In contrast, “Daaku Maharaj,” which opened with $1 million for premieres and Day 1 with blockbuster talk, struggled to add only $300k throughout the rest of the week.

Despite “Game Changer” selling over 2.2 million tickets in India, some paid websites claim it has not crossed the ₹200 crore gross mark, whereas “Daaku Maharaj,” with ticket sales roughly half of “Game Changer,” is being credited with a ₹110 crore gross. This significant mismatch in ticket sales versus gross collections further emphasizes the questionable nature of the figures being circulated.

The controversy has once again sparked debates about transparency and accuracy in box office reporting. While “Game Changer” continues to attract audiences and perform well internationally, its journey highlights the challenges of navigating biased narratives in the film industry.
